Boniface Okoli denies fraud allegations, Calls On Publishers To Always Verify Information

A businessman, Mr Boniface Okana Okoli who has recently faced accusations of involvement in a scam and illegal business deals has strongly refuted these claims labeling them as baseless and malicious.

Refuting the allegations, Mr Okoli insists that all his business practices are transparent, legal, and aligned with industry standards. He added that the accusations have no merit, emphasizing his commitment to ethical business operations and customer satisfaction.

In response to the allegations as published by an online News Blog ARISE NEWS on March 23, 2025, and Bekwarra Vanguard, a facebook name, the businessman has vowed to pursue legal action against anyone attempting to tarnish his reputation with false claims. Okoli said all the names mentioned in the said publications are strange and unknown to him.

Mr Okoli who was the Director of Finance and Mobilization in the 2024 APC Bekwarra LGA Chairmanship Campaign Council Election, has said that the allegations of fraud against him are merely orchestrated to tarnish his image as his company did not defraud anyone as purported in the malicious publications circulating in the social media.

“As a businessman i do not know anyone called Dominic Okweche, neither have I had any business dealings with him. Similarly, I have neither come in contact with the said Ogar Ogodo or anyone mentioned before. I don’t have any dealings with any of them. The person called MC is my cousin who decided to lie against me that he gave me the sum of Eleven Million Naira (N11m). I only had something with MC which was basically to fence our family land that we reclaimed for the family. I gave MC the task to supervise the fencing which I later ask him if I am owing him for anything then he responded that he spent 11m but that I should give him 10m which I transferred 10m to him without wasting time but I was shocked hearing that he’s also blackmailing me.

“It appears my business rivals are trying to weave unfound fraud allegations around me through cronies. All the fraud allegations against me are untrue. As a businessman I am bound to respect the decency of business engagement. Any other story is pettiness, which I will engage with a full measure of law.”

He further said, “I do not have any business dispute with anyone and i will get to the bottom of this matter eventually.

“It is very clear that there is an orchestration to tarnish my image of and to malign my character. That this is happening now raises a lot of questions and raises many suspicions. It is interesting that only a few months ago i had warned of a plot by my detractors to attack my person.

“I believe in the rule of law and that is why I have not said anything on the matter. People that are discerning, when they hear fake news, they will know it.”

The statement called on the media to always verify its stories before publishing, it stated that “while I am committed to seeing the court process continue against those peddling the falsehood, i call on the Nigerian media, journalists, editors and publishers of both mainstream and online media to always verify stories before going public.

“It is important to seek the views and comments of all affected parties in any matter before publishing, so that there will be balance. It is against all known journalism ethics in any free world to resort to name calling and undue sensational reports without a proper investigation”, the statement reads.

The businessman further said that the allegations are purely the imagination of the purveyors and should be taken with a pinch of salt. He urges investors, clients, and the public to rely on factual information and continue to support his business ventures.

Further investigation by TheLumineNews indicates that Bekwarra Vanguard is a pseudo Facebook page as there is/was no one who had credible information about the publisher as no comments were gotten from Bekwarra Vanguard, the platform that first published the story.

When contacted, one of the supposed victims, Mr Dominic Okweche , refuted the claim of having any business dealing with Mr Boniface Okoli, as he noted that “Thank you very much my brother for reaching out to me. A lots of persons have made similarly call in respect of that story. That story is not true. I did not give Boniface Okoli any money or have done any business with him. Whatever the person behind that wants to achieve, is best known to him/her, and they shouldn’t use my name”.

Efforts by TheLumineNews to reach other two persons alleged to have been defrauded by Boniface Okoli, failed as there was no body to assist with their contact information and phone numbers.

Cross River Govt Celebrates Leboku 2023, Calls On Yakurr People To Maintain Peace

    By Fred Abua

The State Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, has called on the indigenous people of Yakurr to maintain peace as Cross River State continues to record giant strides in the tourism sector. The Governor who made this call during the 2023 Leboku Festival in Ugep urged the celebrants to give tourists and visitors who were in the community for the celebrations a memorable stay by shunning violence.

The Governor, represented at the event by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, pointed out that Leboku had been added to the State’s Cultural Calendar many years ago to boost the state’s tourism potential. He said it was “a known fact that since then and with the support of other partners and sponsors, the festival has continued to grow, year in year out”. He promised that the present administration will make the festival even better by securing the buy-in of the Federal Government.

Earlier at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, the Deputy Governor highlighted the state’s commitment to fostering a positive relationship with the people of Yakurr and praised the Paramount Ruler for the peaceful coexistence in the community. He assured of the governor’s presence in the next edition of the Leboku International New Yam Festival.

Responding, the Paramount Ruler, Obol Lopon of Ugep, HRM (Dr) Obol Ofem Ubana, described the Leboku New Yam festival is a season of plenty and a time to celebrate abundance and survival after the planting season’s hardships. He noted that the Yakurr people had kept this tradition over the years and friendships had been forged between people during this celebration. He said prices of foodstuff will go down following the celebration.

The Obol Lopon expressed satisfaction with the present State Government, stating that although the administration was new, it had acted like an old and experienced Government by providing everything needed for the celebration to be successful and hitch-free.

The colorful festival featured various events such as a parade by the Maidens of Yakurr, traditional wrestling, August Women International and the presentation of car prizes to Mr. Leboku 2023 and Miss Leboku 2023 and the Chief harvester. Other consolation prizes were awarded to the first and second runners-up.

I Live On Heavy Loans And Showing Off, While Someone Who Pays My salary Is Quite Modest And Living  A Simple Life

    By Anonymous

Meeting an old class mate, we had not seen each other for about 30 years. The Lord has been kind to me.
When I saw him again, this time at a hotel lobby, he was looking simple. He wore simple Ankara attire. I felt touched.
He walked up to me and was glad to see me again. But deep within me I was not impressed with his status compared to mine and poor me, I couldn’t hide it.
We exchanged contact details and I could see the joy in him as he collected mine.

I told him I will drop him home in my brand new Range Rover and I pointed it to him.
He declined and said he had already called for his car. It looked old, a 2001 Honda Accord.

I invited him the next day for lunch at my house. A part of me wanted to impress him, to show off my success and affluence to him, while another was to discuss opportunities and possibly help him.

He drove to Parkview where I lived. He looked impressed with my home. I had taken a heavy mortgage. In fact I was heavily in debt. We had lunch. He told me he was into small business and particularly real estate. I brought up more business discussions, but he didn’t sound too interested. I asked him how I could help him. He said he was fine. I even told him if he was interested, I could help him secure some loans… He looked at me and smiled.

He told me he would invite me over soon to his place. His old car came for him. I was grateful to God for what I had.  “Fingers are not all equal”, I thought to myself…I was lucky. I worked in a good place.

Two weeks later, we went to see him in Kitisuru my wife and I.
She was reluctant to go because she was not impressed with the man’s status as to warrant our visiting him in his house.
I was able to convince her that we were close friends in college.
We saw the Estate. We asked for directions to his home. Those leading us spoke his name with deference.

It was a simple but lovely home. A 4 bedroom bungalow. I saw 4 cars parked in front. We entered his home. It was simply elegant with a touch of class inside. He welcomed us warmly.

    Lunch was well served.
His wife called him Baba Gweth.

During lunch, he asked about my MD. He said they were friends. I saw a company gift on one of his tables nearby. That company owned about 38% shares where I worked. I enquired from him about it. He smiled. He told me he owned the company. He also owned the estate.

_I did not know when I called him sir… I was in awe of him too._

I had learnt a lesson in humility, A big one. Appearances are deceptive. He noticed my discomfort.

Driving back home, I was very quiet. My wife was humbled and extremely calm. I could perceive the thoughts in her mind. I looked at myself. Living on loans, heavy loans and showing off while someone who pays my salary is quite modest and living a simple life!

    Adjust your perception towards others.
God bless you as you read, learn and take a good step of change..

  • Go Get Your Own Broom BY Lovendah OTACHE

Go Get Your Own Broom BY Lovendah OTACHE

In one certain Parish, the late Bishop Michael Eneja of Nsukka Catholic Diocese was on a Pastoral visit. That faithful late afternoon, the weather was very hot, such that staying inside the Church or Hall was not an option at all. The Saintly Bishop decided to have his teaching outside, under the avocado pea tree at the center of Church premises.

This impromptu change of arrangement caused a stir, occasioning a lot of running around for the Parish PRIEST and other key officers of the Parish council.

The major drama happened when the Parish PRIEST returned with a conference table and discovered that the Bishop had already picked up a broom at the front of the Church and started sweeping.

On sighting the Bishop bending down with a broom in his hand sweeping, the Parish PRIEST shouted “My Lord, please don’t do that to me! Give me the broom, let me do the sweeping myself!”
Despite the Priest’s insistence, the Bishop refused to allow him. On the contrary, he said to the priest, “Go and get your own broom.”

In obedience, the Parish PRIEST went and picked up his own broom and started sweeping. It did not take long before the catechist arrived at the scene and saw both His Lordship and the Parish PRIEST sweeping, and he nearly fainted!

The catechist rushed the Parish priest to collect the broom from him but the PRIEST told him, “Go and get your own broom.”

The same continued until everyone who came for the conference got their own broom. Just within minutes the whole compound was clean and the Bishop continued with his catechetical instruction.

I think Nigeria’s problem can be solved with all of us g”our own brooms” and joining in the sweeping of the mess we found ourselves.

If everybody is to sweep their corner, the whole nation would be sparkling clean within minutes. It is all about starting small and starting it by yourself now. We can still do it. Let’s do it!. Together, we can!
Criticism without working out solutions to our problems will not get us anywhere!
