    Police Recovers Stolen Car From Armed Robbers In Calabar

    The Anti Kidnapping/Cultism Squad (AKCS) of the Cross River Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers who robbed one Ikechukwu Ibekie in Calabar and made away with his 2018 Toyota Corolla car worth over N5million.

    The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulkadir Jimoh, who briefed newsmen on Tuesday in Calabar, said the suspects were tracked and arrested in Uyo at the early hours of Tuesday by personnel of the AKCS in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom Police Command.

    The suspects had already put up the car for sale at N1million at a car stand in Uyo before the AKCS team apprehended the three gang members.

    “In line with our open door policy as it concerns information sharing by giving the people feed back as well as carrying the people of Cross River along in our progress and achievement, we have just apprehended a notorious robbery gang who specializes in robbing filling stations and snatching cars.

    “After robbing their victim in Calabar, they took his 2018 Toyota Corolla car which cost over N5million to a car stand at Uyo without knowing that we were tracking them.

    “They were intercepted at the early hours of Tuesday morning in synergy with our people in Akwa Ibom.

    “We arrested them and brought them back to Calabar and they all confessed to the crime. They will be charged to Court immediately investigation is concluded,” he said.

    One of the Suspect, Francis Archbong, 28, said he didn’t know the value of the car, that was why they wanted to sell the car for N1million.

    “I used to be a carpenter before going into driving, I didn’t know the value of the car; but we needed cash urgently.

    “The car was handed over to me by one Etete, so I drove it to Akwa Ibom to sell it there. But to tell you the truth, I didn’t know the car is up to N5million, if I knew, I won’t place it at N1million,” he said.

    The Cross River Police Command has arrested three suspects who looted insecticide pumping machines from the Calabar Rice City during the EndSARS protest on Oct. 24 in Calabar.

    The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulkadir Jimoh, who paraded the suspects on Thursday in Calabar, said they were arrested at 8miles axis of Calabar on their way out to Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

    According to him, the state command had earlier announced and gave out 48 hour grace period to looters who looted both private and public properties to return them to the police or face arrest.

    He said “In line with the Inspector General of Police directives, we gave out a grace period for all those who looted public and private items to return them to the state.

    “Earlier today, our vigilant officers intercepted a lorry loaded with insecticide pumping machines that were looted from the Calabar Rice City.

    “After much interrogation, the suspects failed to explain how they came about the machines. It was an aide to Gov. Ben Ayade on Agriculture that came in an identified the machines.”

    The Nigeria Police Force in Cross River State has arrested Madam Ima-Obong Asuquo, for allegedly selling three babies for N1,500,000.00.

    Asuquo was arrested on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in her house at Obot Udonna village in Aakampka Local government Area of the state.

    Speaking shortly after the arrest, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdulkadir Jimoh, stated that the rescue operation took place about 3:40am following a tipoff.

    Jimoh noted that “the prime suspect has confessed to the crime”, adding that ” she had earlier sold three new babies for N1,500,000.00 in connivance with one other woman simply identified as Iquo of Technical Junction, Calabar “.

    The CP said, “three pregnant teenagers; Blessing Francis, 19, Blessing Okon, 19, and Blessing Solomon, 21 were rescued during the operation by my men.

    “Two children, Bright Solomon, 2, and Michael Etim, 7, were rescued.

    “Both suspects, Asuquo and Iquo are currently in our custody, while investigations are ongoing. One Mr. Solomon, a witness, has also made a recorded statement”.
