    Cross River State Establishes Mobile Court To Try Nose Mask Offenders

    The Chairman of the Cross River State Covod 19 and Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu has constituted a mobile court on Tuesday in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

    Edu held that “people are playing a fast one by wearing the mask at the point of enforcement team and then remove it shortly after leaving the enforcement point”

    Edu further noted that six of the monitoring team and mobile court will be in Calabar while one each will be at the urban development centers across the state.

    Her words “The mobile courts will try any nose mask violator and sentence offenders in accordance with the approved law. People have been avoiding the points were the taskforce members are situated, what we do now is to have complete mobile taskforce with mobile courts where they can situate anywhere and try offenders of nose mask violators”

    Recall that the governor had imposed a fine of N300,000(Three Hundred Thousand Naira) only for taxis that carry passengers without nose mask while anyone found walking the streets without nose masks should be quarantined for 14 days.

    Corona Virus: Face Mask Offenders To Pay A Fine Of N300,000.00

    The Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has issued a directives to citizens and resident of the state who refuse to wear face mask .

    The directives was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Christian Ita.

    The statement with reference number GO/PRESS/012/Col.1/176. regretted the compliance of wearing of face mask.

    The statement reads in part “following the low compliance level with the no mask, no movement order in the state, the Governor, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade had issued the following directives:

    “That security agents should henceforth impound any vehicle carrying passengers who are not wearing nose mask.

    “Such impounded vehicles, which must be towed to the secretariat of the Covid 19 Taskforce, should only be released after the payment of N300,000 (Three hundred thousand) naira only by the owner of the vehicle.

    “That individuals, no matter their standing in the society, who are found in public without nose masks, should be arrested and quarantine for 14 days”
