    NSIP: C’River Flags Off Government Enterprise Empowerment Program, GEEP 2.0

     

    In a bid to better the welfare of Cross Riverians, the governor, Sen Ben Ayade has brought in yet another Program under the National Social Investment Programme NSIP, christened Government Enterprise Empowerment Program to Cross River state.

    The Program GEEP 2.0 is one of the four programs under the NSIP targeted at empowering Cross Riverians who are already into business enterprises such as Traders, Artisans, famers, agricultural workers, and other categories of Micro, small and medium enterprises in furtherance to poverty eradication, employment generation, growth and development of MSMes in the state.

    Speaking during the Flag off and Training of Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (C.O.M.O.S), the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare services Mrs Blessing Egbara, who doubles as the Focal person to the NSIP in Cross River State, hailed Governor Ben Ayade for his wisdom in creating the state Ministry of Humanity and Social Welfare services which has so far drawn lots of federal government programs to the state.

    Mrs Egbara disclosed that the GEEP 2.0 program is a program that will elevate thousands of Cross Riverians, adding that “since the commencement of the NSIP in Cross River state, Millions of Cross Riverians have benefited from the NSIP, thanks to the wisdom and systematic structure of His Excellency Senator Prof Benedict Ayade towards to the well being of Cross Riverians”.

    Mrs Egbara urged all Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers to go out and deliver on the task given to them, stressing that there will be no room for indiscipline and fowl play.

    “I call on you all today to take the task ahead very serious, the master trainer will put you through on what needs to be done, i hope and believe that you will not bring bad name to Cross River state as we are known nationally as a state without bad records when it comes to the NSIP, so I want to urge you all to take this task very seriously” – She Maintained

    Speaking on behalf of the Minster for Humanitarian Affairs Mr Sunday Oko, applauded Governor Ben Ayade for creating a safe environment for the operation of the NSIP in the State, he thanked the Governor for his continuous support and efforts in ensuring that Cross River State gains from Federal government Humanitarian Programs.

    Mr Oko further revealed that after the training of C.O.M.Os, the next phase is sensitization and Enumeration of the targeted beneficiaries, adding that the loan structure ranges from 10,000 to 300,000 for beneficiaries that will cut across the 18 Local Government Areas.

    The State Coodinator of NYSC in Cross River State, Mr Zemoh Andrew received the Project Task Team PTT, and Members of the ongoing National Home Grown Feeding Programme NHGFP, of the federal government led by the Stats Team Focal Person who doubles as the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Hon. Blessing Egbara in his office.

    Speaking during the visit, Egbara stated that corps members will be fully engaged in the next one month for the training, and emphasized the need for them to prepare ahead of time.

    She presented to the following items to the NYSC State Coordinator; over 160 iPads with chargers, power Banks and scanners.

    Responding, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Andrew Zimoh commended the team, and maintained that, “NYSC is used to accelerating successes of other Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, this assignment will also be successful”

    The NYSC focal officer for the feeding programme, Mr Emmanuel Obot assured the team that corps members of the scheme are equal to the task, and noted that the programme will be carried our in line with government’s outlined procedures.

    He added that the training will hold in phases, in the four NYSC Zonal formations in the state.

    “Corps Members will converge at their respective Zonal headquarters as they will serve as enumerators for the programme across schools in Cross River State”, he added.

    Other members of the entourage include; Madam Elizabeth Odu, Zonal Monitor/Representative of the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Mr. Sunday Okoh, Net Trix State Consultant, Mr. Eric Egbe, Representatives from the National Orientation Agency, NOA, State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Ministry of Education, National Bureau of Statistics, NBS and the National Population Commission, NPC.

    The official launch of the training will hold at Calabar Municipality council by 10.00am on Monday, 19th July 2021 by the State Coordinator, Mr Andrew Zimoh.

    C’River Govt Supports The Association Of Deaf And Dumb To Send Representatives To Attend Their Convention in Kano

    The Cross River state Ministry of Humanity and Social Welfare has donated the sum of Two hundred thousand naira (200,000) to enable the Deaf and Dumb association send their seven man representative to their Convention in Kano.

    The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Hon. Blessing Egbara, disclosed this  as she received representatives of the Deaf and Dumb community in the state on a courtesy visit to her .

    Hon. Egbara explained that the purpose  of  the establishment of the Ministry by His Excellency, the governor was to enable his administration reach out to Cross Riverians especially people of their category, and expressed joy for having them in her office.

    The Commissioner stated , “when I got your letter about your visit, I was very pleased and looked forward to welcoming you guys, I must say I am very delighted to welcome you today, I have listened to all you have said and it’s with great Joy that His Excellency reaches out to you, the Governor has you at heart and will always support you”

    Hon. Egbara siad that she looks forward to working closely with the deaf and dumb community and called on the Chairman to get statistics of deaf and dumb in other parts of the state especially the rural areas, so they could get comprehensive data of Cross Riverians of this category, adding that she wished them well in their Convention and requested that from time to time the association should keep her up to date with their activities.

    The Commissioner explained that her Ministry may not be able to handle all of the association’ s challenges, but that she will do her best to those challenges she could.

    Speaking earlier, the 7-man representative from the deaf and dumb association of Cross River state led  by it Chairman, Ekeng Ekpeyong Henshaw, and an interpreter, revealed that the purpose of their visit was to Solicit for support towards their upcoming conference in Kano and also  to air out their challenges to the governor through the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare.

    The Chairman stated “we the Deaf association are here today on behalf of our members to pay a courtesy visit to you, and also solicit for your support towards our forth coming conference in Kano and also to use this opportunity to discuss the challenges we the deaf community are facing”

    Mr. Henshaw Thanked the Commissioner for her Kind gesture and Governor Ben Ayade for his soft spot towards helping this in need and the physically challenged in the society.

    C’River Govt Delivers Relief Materials, Cash To Inmates Of Afokang Correctional Centre In Calabar

    As part of the policy direction of the Cross River State Government under the leadership of Sen Prof Ben Ayade to reach out to all citizens, relief materials have been delivered to inmates of the Afokang Correctional Centre, Calabar.

    Making the presentation on behalf of the Govermor Ayade at Afokang on Monday, the state Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Hon. Blessing Egbara said that the gesture was part of the effort of the administration of Ayade to show love and kindness to the inmates, and that it is on this basis that he has directed her to reach out to them.

    The Commissioner commended Professor Ben Ayade for being a selfless leader who reaches out to his People, irrespective of their circumstances, social status or offence that has been committed.

    Hon. Egbara revealed that the purpose of the visit was to let the inmates know that they may have broken the law, but doesn’t mean government has turn its back on them.

    “We are very happy to be here today to hand over relief materials to the inmates, we all know how the country is during this period, we are here to let them know that being here doesn’t make them less humans in the society. They are law offenders, and being here is to correct them and make them better citizens of the society, we have come to support the Correctional authority in Afokang in whatever they are doing for their welfare”

    Besides handing over food items, hand sanitizers, and nose mask to the inmates, the Hon Commissioner also make a Cash Donation of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (250,000) on behalf of the G. F. O Foundation, instituted by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon.. Martin Orim.

    “The chief of staff to the governor also partners with the Ministry through the G. F. O Foundation from time to time to help us take care of the less privileged in the society and for this visit, he has given us 250,000 to assist with the welfare of the inmates”

    Reacting to the Visit, the Deputy Controller of Corrections in the state, Mr Nickolas Obinna, thanked the state Governor, Sen Prof Ben Ayade for his kind heart at remembering the inmates, while also welcoming the Commissioner and her team to the Correction Center, stressing further that the visit is very timely and very thoughtful of the State Government to remember the inmates in a time like this.

    “I am overwhelmed with Joy, because they came at the right time, on behalf of the Controller, I want to thank God and also thank You for your visit because this will go a long way to reduce the sufferings of the inmates, honestly this shows that the Government has us at heart, I also want to appreciate His Excellency for reaching out to his people through this ministry I would love this synergy to go on,” Oninna maintained.

    The Deputy Controller also use the medium to appeal to the governor, Professor Ayade to come to their aid as the roof and buildings of some offices in the correctional centers needs fixing.

    The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Mrs. Blessing Egbara, has commended the state Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade for the inauguration of  the Cross River State  Advisory Council on Prerogative Of Mercy ACPM, at the Ministry of Justice, Calabar the Cross River State Capital.

    Egbara, who is also a member of the Council stated that “the inauguration of the body by the State Governor is a clear indication that Ayade is a great humanitarian who is committed to changing and touching the lives of his people at all levels”

    The Commisioner also disclosed that “the role of the Council is basically to look into the cases of those qualified to be granted mercy in our Correctional Centers and ensure that they get the mercy of His Excellency, who as a  father believes in giving people a second Chance, it is also a way of decongesting our correctional centers in the state”

    She used the occasion to assured His Excellency, the Governor that her ministry will do all it can to ensure the realization of his Vision towards a better deal for Cross Riverians and to positively touch many lives.

    The Council consist of Barrister Emmanuel Enamhe, as Chairman, Mr Elias Ayeshung Secretary; Very Rev. Fr. Malachy Ephraim  Dr Yosef Effiom, Compol Lawrence Eko Alobi. Rtd., Hon. Blessing Egbara, Mr Emmanuel Bekeh Udama and Adjah Enun Adjah, are to serve as Members.

    Egbara Takes Covid 19 Palliatives/Relief Materials To Governor Ayade’s Home Town

    In furtherance to Governor Ben Ayade’s deliberate efforts to cushion the effects of social hardship faced by the vulnerable occasioned by the global pandemic, COVID-19, the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Mrs. Blessing Egbara has extended the distribution of palliative and humanitarian services to the people of Obudu, Governor Ben Ayade’s home town.

    Egbara, while distributing the items to patients at the Sacred Heart Hospital Obududu held that “Prof. Ben Ayade’s administration is committed to making life bearable to the patients and other citizens during this hard period.

    “These relief materials are meant to assist you meet some of your daily basic needs. As your leader, the governor is sensitive to the plights of his people and will always do all within his power to ameliorate your sufferings”

    Egbara interact led with some of the patients as she encouraged them to trust God for their healing. She used the opportunity to enlighten the patients about the COVID-19 and the efforts,  His Excellency Prof Benedict Ayade is putting to ensure Cross River state remains Covid-19 free.

    The relief materials distributed to the patients includes; food items, Nose masks and hand Sanitizers.

    At  Angiaba/Begiaka communities of Obudu, Egbara also handed over Nose Masks, Hand Sanitizers and relief materials to the people.

    The Commissioner disclosed that the desire and vision of His Excellency the governor is to reach out to as many Communities in all the local Government Areas of the state as possible and that her Job is to ensure the items gets to these communities. Bedia is one of the communities in the state that the Commissioner visited and distributed the items.

    Responding on behalf of the Angiaba/Begiaka communities, His Royal Highness (HRH) Utsu Felix Ukwudare, commended the governor for his hard work and development of the state in general and the effort he has put to make Cross River State COVID-19 free.

    The royal father thanked the governor for the donation of the relief materials, nose masks and hand sanitizers to their communities and for educating the people about the global pandemic and how to live during this period.

    Utstu Ukwudare Praised His Excellency for the gesture and held that God truly sent Professor Ben Ayade to protect Cross Riverians and pledged his support and loyalty to the Governor and bless him as he pilot the affairs of the state.

    Gov Ayade Doles Out 1.5M To Two Families In Boki And Obudu

    The governor of Cross River State, Senator Professor Benedict Ayade, has doled out the sum of N500, 000.00 to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Saviour Kembre of Boki Local Government Area for being blessed by God  with triplets, all girls.

    Ayade equally donated the sum of N1million to the Fanny family in Obudu, whose living house has almost collapse from years of dilapidation and disrepairs.

    The humanitarian and kind gestures from the governor was delivered by the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Blessing Egbara, when she paid a visit to both the Saviour Kembre family of Boki at Boki and the Fanny family of Obudu in Obudu.

    Egbara who was pleased to see the bouncing triplets in good conditions equally assured the family that His Excellency the Governor will always be there to support them, maintaining that children are a source of Blessing to every family and that triplets have brought joy and blessing to the Kembre’s Family.

    Responding on behalf of the family, Mr Saviour Kembre praised Governor Ben Ayade for his donations and kind heart towards the poor and those in need, and for being so generious towards his new born babies and the family as a whole.

    The Kembre family bread winner who had lost his job before now said that the gesture from the governor will also aid in reviving his business to keep the family going and pray God to continue to bless and keep the governor for them and the entire state for his good works.

    At Obudu, the Commissioner also paid courtesy Visit to the Fanny Family in Obudu, to see for herself the challenges facing the family.

    Hon. Egbara who was touched on seeing the state in which the house the family are living disclosed that His Excellency, the Governor, is aware of their situation and has donated cash gift of 1 million naira to support the family.

    She also disclosed that His Excellency has instructed her to give a report on the structure and challenges of the building in which the family lives to enable the ministry swing into action.

    She however stated that what she has seen is a sorrow sight and that once she gets the report to the Governor, something will be done urgently to ameliorate the family situation.

    She informed the family that for now the N1million cash gift is to enable the family take care of some basic needs.

    The good gesture of the governor,who is popularly known as a welfarist leader continues tomorrow as the commissioner is expected to visit some places to give out palliative from the governor.
