“I will ensure that the right thing is done. I will write to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, to feed me with details on the award of contract and also to find out the slow pace of work despite payment of funds to the contractors ”

Ambassador Peter Akpanke Will Give Us The Representation We Desire – Charles Eneji

    By Elijah Ugani

The Director General of Mr Peter Akpanke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP for Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku federal constituency election, Hon Charles Eneji, has said that his principal, Mr Peter Akpanke will give the federal constituency the 21st century representation needed to turn things around for better.

Mr Eneji spoke to TheLumineNews while reacting to the insinuations by some enemies of Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku, that his principal may have withdrawn from the race following his absence from the field in the past one week.

Eneji held that “It is a disservice for anybody to think that our principal will chicken out of this race. He is in the race with his full chest, fully prepared to win this election. I want to assure you that Ambassador Peter Akpanke will give you the representation that we desire as a people.

“In his private capacity, our principal has touched the lives of so many persons, through his foundation, The Akpanke Foundation. He understands the plight of our people, and we are convinced and confident that given his passion for humanity, he will initiate and adopt routine town hall meetings to address our plight.

“Our principal has led us and we have toured the 30 wards of the constituency twice and our principal popularly called De Rock, is already a household name.

“The leadership of the APC in the state worried by his rising popularity is bent on fabricating stories with the view to create chaos in the minds of our supporters. But as you can see, the people are wiser now, they are more resolute and decisive about their support for our principal. We are working day and night, and I can assure you that within the past one week, we have an increased support base.

“Against their initial intention to weaken our ambition through intimidation, a lot of those who were undecided have called to identify with us in this course, we are confident that comes 25th of February, we will win the election”.

When asked what could be the reason why he thinks that the electorates will prefer Peter Akpanke to an incumbent Hon Legor Idagbo, Eneji averred that “Peter Akpanke, has compassion for his people, he feels the pains of others, he has paid hospital bills for patients, empowered youths, widows, empowered people with cars, provided livelihood opportunities for those in need, made financial donations to churches among other things across the three local government areas.
I will want you to conduct an independent investigation from the electorates on the streets, find out from them who is their prefer choice and why they want to vote for him.

“Our principal’s intimidating rising popularity, support and acceptance has created fears in the minds of the APC, since they have nothing convincing to tell the people. They are bent on creating falsehood about our principal. We are more determined now than ever to ensure that we win this election”.

When asked what is giving him the courage that his principal will win the election. Eneji held that “Power belongs to the people, and with the introduction of the BVAS machine, the people will definitely decide who will represent them. They are tired of failed promises. They want something different from what they have been subjected to, failed promises. They is hardship everywhere occasioned by the failed APC government. The only hope we now have is the rescue mission of the PDP.

“Let me also use this opportunity to call on our teaming supporters and the general public to vote massively for all PDP candidates for the general elections”

We Must All Condemn In The Strongest Terms Possible, An Age Of Unleashing Political Militias In Cross River North BY AUGUSTINE ABOH

We Must All Condemn In The Strongest Terms Possible, An Age Of Unleashing Political Militias In Cross River North.

Unfortunately the perilous days are now with us.
The picture below shows Peter Akpanke in campaign rally just less than 24 hours before the ridiculous invasion of his residence by Political Militias, order under surreptitious antics of the Government that is obviously SINKING like a Ship that runs into a crystallized glacier.

Akpanke Peter is a public figure, a party candidate in constant public domain. If he was by any chance legally needed for any allegations, he would have been invited properly, and not this Mafia-like operation of unscrupulous state security forces that have turned themselves to political Militias available to be used for even alleged assassination attempts as seen in the case.

One thing is clear, Peter and Jarigbe Agom have become unstoppable and their victory assured by the people whose commonwealth and destinies have been bastardized by a government that now fight like a suffocated opposition. Willing to go to extreme levels of attempted assassination on opponents and indiscriminate arrest of supporters.

The message is clear, if you’ve been given a mandate and have grossly abuse that privilege even the gods of the land will rise against you.

This violent intimidation must stop 🛑 and we should be reminded that the ambitions of no one, no matter how highly placed is worth the life of anyone, aspirants or electorate in Cross River North.

Posterity will hold all accountable for sowing disunity and turmoil in our peaceful OBO Federal Constituency.

Just stop it! Win or Lose without the blood of your brothers in your hands.
No emperor or kingdom last forever except God the Most High.

Just In: Court Strikes Out Criminal Case Against Cross River PDP Reps Candidate, Four Others

    By Jonathan Ugbal, CrossRiverWatch

Justice Rosemary Dugbo Oghoghorie of the Calabar division of the Federal High Court has struck out a criminal case filed by the Federal Government against the House of Representatives candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Akpanke, and four others.

Justice Dugbo in her ruling said the prosecution needed to get its house together and not waste the time of the Court.

Charges bordering on murder, terrorism, attempted murder, and unlawful possession of firearms was preferred against Mr. Akpanke, his co-aspirants, KJ Jedy Agba, Elaunire Ushie, a House of Assembly Aspirant, Augustine Agba, and one Joseph Akin following the death of a Police officer, Inspector Emmanuel Mbang Ubi who was shot at the botched May 23, 2022, House of Representatives primaries in Obudu.

The case with Suit Number FHC/CA/14C/2022 was filed on September 6, 2022, and was listed for arraignment and plea on Wednesday.

But, after it was called up, and appearances entered by the prosecution and defense counsels, Justice Dugbo asked the prosecutor, Edosa Esq whether his witnesses were in Court which he replied no. The Court also asked about the defendants who the prosecutor said were not in his custody.

Justice Dugbo also complained that the charge sheet in the Court’s file was not clear enough to which the prosecutor replied that the charges have been amended. Justice Dugbo also asked whether the amended charges were in the Court’s file as she could

Justice Dugbo subsequently struck out the case.

This means that the Federal Government can file fresh charges. It is unclear whether that may be the case with one of the defendants still in Police custody.

    The Case

Mr. Ubi, alongside his colleagues, was drafted to secure the venue of the House of Representatives Primary of the PDP in Obudu on May 23, 2022, which was canceled after he was shot dead at close range while a colleague was also injured. The primaries were rescheduled and later canceled with Mr. Akpanke winning both.

The quintet above were then invited, interrogated, and charged to Court. They were initially billed to take their pleas on October 12, 2022. But, Justice Dugbo’s absence led to the parties taking a different date off-record.

Mr. Akin, Akpanke, Agba Jedy, and Ushie were listed as the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth defendants respectively. While Mr. Akin was charged with killing Mr. Ubi, Messrs KJ, Akpanke, Agba, and Ushie were accused of conspiracy to commit a felony and unlawful possession of firearms.
