The Senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom, has commended members of Team Jari for their unwavering support throughout his political journey, from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Team Jari comprises former ward and chapter executives of the PDP who defected with the Senator to the APC.
Speaking during an interactive session held at the Senator’s constituency office, located opposite the Ogoja Local Government Council Secretariat, the lawmaker appealed to his supporters to prove that they own the votes in the Cross River Northern Senatorial District by voting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Edet Otu, whom he said graciously supported his bid to return to the Senate despite opposition from some aspirants for the same position.
He noted, “I assured the President that Cross River Northern Senatorial District will vote massively for him, and please, you don’t have to make me a liar.”
There was a thunderous response of “No!” when he asked whether they would make him a liar.
Speaking further, the Senator said, “This is the first time we are meeting since we officially moved to the APC. I will come back, and we will meet again before the general elections. In addition to your August 2026 Stipends, I have made available ₦18.4 million for your logistics and transportation.”
Reacting to insinuations that he had stopped his empowerment programmes since joining the APC, Senator Jarigbe said, “We will do empowerment. Once funds are released for 2025 and 2026, we will carry out empowerment programmes. Just relax; we will get there.”
Speaking earlier, the Constituency Officer to Senator Jarigbe Agom, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, commended the Senator for keeping faith with the former ward and chapter executives of the PDP who defected with him to the APC.
He assured the Senator of their continued and unalloyed support, noting that the Senator had sustained the payment of a monthly stipend of ₦5,000 to each of the former ward and chapter executives who defected with him to the APC, a commitment that has now entered its 11th month.
The interactive session came just after the senator had met with stakeholders of Team Jari and made a donation of 50 Million Naira to support their logistics.
