  • No One Can Be More PDP Than Chief Soni Obache Abang BY JOE OBI BISONG

Chief Soni Abang stirred the hornet’s nest late last week when he granted an interview to one of the Governor’s one thousand media aides and instead of speaking about the issues surrounding his party’s difficult campaign, as its supposed Director General, he needlessly took a bronco – charge at the People’s Democratic Party, haughtily unleashing an extensive narrative that belied and made a mockery of the real facts that are alive and on ground in Cross River State today.

While Chief Soni Abang speaks about the PDP as having a moral baggage in the interview, the real moral baggage of the PDP was and still is, with the greatest respect, Chief Soni Abang himself. Apart from the fact that he was Chairman of Boki local government area under the umbrella of the party and thereafter Chairman of the same PDP for about seven years, his tenures witnessed unbridled greed and extortion by his goodself or agents, while selection of Party candidates was administered like a bazaar with the tickets going to the highest bidders. He was draconian in leadership and elephantine in his appetite for money, big cars and good food. At one point, the leadership had to make the difficult decision to banish him to the Republic of Mali, just to keep him far away from the cookie jar. This is the moral baggage that Chief Soni Abang has fortunately transferred to the All Progressive Congress and its tainted candidates, which he should frankly be speaking about.

His reference to an imaginary principle of zoning in Cross River State flies in the face of truth because he is obviously aware that such a principle does not and has never existed. The Cross River State Director General of the APC campaign should be well advised to rather focus on the following issues:
    1. The difficult matter of running on Governor Ben Ayade’s legacy.
    2. The yet to be answered questions about the certificates of his party’s governorship candidate.
    3. Whether his party’s governorship candidate was duly cleared to contest the Primaries or otherwise.
    4. The questionable character and reputation of his party’s candidates, generally speaking.

    5. The dire need to find workable ways to boost the economy of the state, create jobs and restore investor confidence in Cross River State.
    6. The Director General of the APC campaign may also wish to address the allegations hanging around his neck, like the sword of Damocles, that he has been fully paid by this government for his portion of the Boki East – West Road which has been abandoned.

One cannot live in a glass house and continue to throw stones at his neighbours indiscriminately. The campaigns for the elections of 2023 shall be conducted the way the parties model them to be.
The choice is between an issues – based campaign or a mudslinging model. While the Senator Sandy Onor campaign organisation in particular and the PDP at large, has chosen to deal with the issues as they affront and affect the generality of our people, we are also prepared to respond appropriately in kind, whenever and wherever the integrity of our patriotic charge is considered to have been unduly impugned.

In the face of the greatest rape of our State throughout the history of our corporate existence, and the systematic destruction of everything we hold dear, young men holding food on the table jobs could be excused to join the Hallelujah Choir; not men like Sony Abang who till today, are known to be unrepentant secret critics of of Governor Ben Ayade’s misgovernance. It is a blatant tragedy indeed, for people like Chief Soni Abang, to whom this state and the PDP gave life, to be seen to validate, as the cheerleader, the complete decimation of all the achievements their excellencies Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke both of whom brought him up by hand, left behind. Surely there must be other ways of baking bread beside being a zombie or puppet for someone else.

  • 2023: APC Delegates Should Seek Victory First Before Cash: BVAS Will Be Used BY JUSTIN OBONGHA

2023: APC Delegates Should Seek Victory First Before Cash: BVAS Will Be Used BY JUSTIN OBONGHA

Glorious greetings from God Most High and Happy Sunday to All Progressives Congress members and our dear DELEGATES. We are edging closer to our party’s primaries and I think it’s imperative we get to understand better, how the general elections especially Governorship in Cross River State may look like.

As we begin to assemble delegates and entreat for support for our different aspirants, please do well to always let them know a few things that should guides their decision, thoughts and choice. Do well to tell them that, if they supports and eventually vote a wrong aspirant, our party will fail woefully in the GENERAL ELECTIONS.

Tell the delegates that no bad candidate can win elections even by rigging. There’s a new technic that makes it impossible for rigging. It’s called BVAS. Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) is a device that replaced the smart card reader, which was used in 2015, with the dual capacity for fingerprint and facial authentication. BVAS is a technology solution based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is only as good as both the age of the data and the training that the algorithms receive.

The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, is designed to inject technological impetus into our electoral system which makes it almost impossible to rig elections and had further reduced the power of incumbency.

BVAS is designed to give our electoral system credibility and given the voters hope that their votes will begin to matter. As a DELEGATES, we should be careful with who we VOTE as CANDIDATE.

2023 Governorship elections will be keenly contested. Our only advantage, will be fully dependent on the charisma, and likeliness of our candidate and not even the cash some aspirants are banking on.

Electoral corruption, cutting corners in the electoral process, snatching ballot boxes and ballot papers would never easily be done in 2023 elections. The by-election in Ogoja, Yala and Akpabuyo LGAs should be like a litmus test and the results I think wasn’t to our party’s favor. If not for the NAME, JUDE NGAJI, APC would have failed woefully.

So, let me say it very clearly that the BVAS as a form and mode of accreditation has come to stay, and the Commission isn’t ready to compromise it standard. And jettisoning of results will not be possible anymore. If the party gives ticket to someone whose victory will be dependent on rigging, or money, then we should be prepare for the worst.

Secondly, tell the DELEGATES that the strength of the opposition, is almost the as the same both in popularity, cash and otherwise. And the personalities PDP are parading as aspirants can’t be easily defeated except the APC present a candidate who is loved and extremely outstanding in popularity and likeliness.

We all know that Cross River State has for more than 20 years been ruled by the PDP and our people are deeply drunk with the name. So APC needs a candidate that is as old as PDP and more popular than the PDP as a party. Anything less, will be catastrophic to our victory.

Aspirants will come with money; some 200k, 300k, 500k and others may tempt you with even a million naira as a DELEGATES just to vote him to become CANDIDATE of our GREAT party, but be guided with the fact that the general elections has changed and we won’t enjoy the power of incumbency and therefore, we cannot rig elections.

Be it your brother, friend, master, boss, father or whatever relationship you share with any of the aspirants, be true to yourself, to them and to the party. Out collective interest as a party, is to win elections and continue to be the RULING party in the State.

This is my wise counsel to the DELEGATES and PARTY members.

    Justin Obongha.

Learn, Unlearn, Relearn Everything…. BY AGBA JALINGO

We learn everything we know how to do because we arrived here only with an empty disc. Not knowing how to even crawl or walk. Even the crying we arrive here with, is learnt here. It is a product of the fear that overwhelms us on arrival in a strange environment. When we arrive here, we begin to learn. We are told by those who arrived here before us billions of years ago, through their customs and traditions, their writings and arts and other forms of legacies that, this is this and that is that. We begin to accept and assimilate what we are learning into our empty disc. As our senses continue to perceive, our disc too begins to populate itself with the things we are learning. The disc is also equipped with capacity to refuse saving some files it detects to be corrupted with malware.

But as the disc keeps filling it’s space, when there is no more space again, some of the saved files will have to be unlearneds the disc can relearn or better put, accommodate new files. In other analogy, it’s like having grown to become a student, you progress to become a teacher too someday, and grow to become a professor in what you are teaching and begin to profess. You have learned, unlearned and relearned. You become an authority because you can now propound your own prognostications arising from your own research and proven ideas.

Today, I believe in God not because any person or any book or any philosophy told me so. Yes I was told all my life that there is God. That Christ is the only way to God. I was told about the angels and devil also, as well as heaven and hell. I have also read about the esoteric concepts of the universe and the cosmic. But as I grew up, I climaxed by doubting the existence of God.

I challenged everything that told me earlier that there is a God and wanted to believe that there is God only if it was from my own personal conviction based on my experience in my sojourn in this world. I wasn’t asking for evidence. I was unlearning. In that course, simple things both in life and in nature, that will not even matter to you or someone else and even the big things that are unimaginable and inexplicable became part of my awe-ing experience.

I began to relearn that there is a “something” that is remotely controlling the affairs of this green planet and the rest of the stars. That thing is greater than all things perceivable. It is my conviction now. I don’t see God through the eyes of anyone again. Not Mathew, not Mark, not Luke, not John, not Paul, not Mohammed, not Buddha, not Jesus etc. I see God through my eyes. Through the simple things that astound me. I have relearned.

I learnt all my life that Mongo Park discovered River Niger. I have unlearned and relearned that too. I learnt that the devil is black and the angels are white, I have relearned and unlearned that too. I learnt that “Ojuju Calabar” is coming and will run under the bed, I have also unlearned and relearned that too.

In this life, there is nothing that cannot or should not be learned, unlearned and relearned. Including questioning the existence of God, your nativity, your belief systems. Question taboos, poke your fingers in the eyes of age long cliches and paradigms. Don’t swallow anything hook, line and sinker, including what you are reading now, unless it is born out of conviction based on your own experience. The truth is that heaven will not fall if you do. Even if it does fall, it won’t fall on your head alone.

    Good morning.

    Yours sincerely,
    Citizen Agba Jalingo.

    3. We congratulate our National Chairman and his Executive together with our Son, Barr Vena Ikem, State Chairman, Cross River State chapter and his Executive Committee for the resounding Victory at the polls. Their emergence is a clear manifestation of their Credibility and acceptability by all party faithful. We wish them God’s blessings during their tenure of office.

    4. We wholeheartedly share in the joy of the victory and inauguration of our Son, Distinguished Senator JARIGBE AGOM JARIGBE as the first elected Senator from Ogoja local Government. We therefore call on all party organs to put in place a transparent process of selecting party candidates for all elective offices especially the Governorship.

    6. We congratulate and thank all the people of goodwill both in and out of the state who stood by us in support of our great son, the Distinguished Senator, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe and pray to the Almighty God to grant them good tidings in all endeavors.

7 We condemn the poor management of the security situation leading to loss of lives, kidnappings, armed robbery, rape etc. and call on the Federal and State Government to do all in its power to secure its territorial integrity and its citizenry.

The leaders thanked Distinguished Senator Sandy Onor for the visit and consultation and appreciated him specifically for all the support given to our Son, Distinguished Senator JARIGBE AGOM JARIGBE during the battle to claim his mandate. • Re: DG Gershom Bassey Campaign Organization Reacts To Sandy Onor’s Declaration

Re: DG Gershom Bassey Campaign Organization Reacts To Sandy Onor’s Declaration

The Attention of the Caterpillar Movement has been drawn to a publication allegedly credited to the DG of Gershom Bassey Campaign Organization, Barr. Ekpo Ada, wherein he stated, amongst other things that the declaration of Distinguished Senator (Prof) Sandy Onor, to join the gubernatorial race spells doom for the party. Referencing an imaginary Stakeholders meeting held in 2015, Barr. Ekpo Ada further alleged that the party leadership had in 2015, zoned the Governorship seat exclusively to the Southern Senatorial District.

For us in the Caterpillar Movement, we find the above statement credited to Barr. Ekpo Ada as unbecoming. Aware of the political season and time we are in, and the need to constantly disabuse the minds of our people from sheer propaganda and rumor, we find it absolutely pertinent to make the following categorical statements, in response to the alleged comment credited to Barr. Ekpo Ada.

    1. That the Caterpillar Movement is not antagonistic to the aspiration of anybody as we believe that all Senatorial Districts have what it takes to produce a credible Governor.

    2. That no body can zone the right of a people to willingly elect their leaders and as such, no body can coerce the party into disenfranchising party faithfuls. The Party must be seen to be free, fair and credible to all and sundry in their activities and processes as we match towards 2023

    3. That it is an aberration for anybody to allege that the party exclusively zoned the Governorship seat to the South in 2015, as such is only a figment of some persons’ imagination, hell-bent on deceiving innocent and unsuspecting Cross Riverians.

We wish to reiterate our commitment to the people of Cross River State and to the philosophy of fairness, credibility and justice as nobody can zone our right.
