Cross River Police Command Celebrates AIG Rashid Bello Afegbua Decoration Following His Promotion

The Cross River State Police Command has congratulated its 48th Commissioner of Police, Rashid Bello Afegbua, on his promotion and decoration as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

The decoration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Inspector-General of Police Conference Hall, Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, performed the decoration of the newly promoted senior officers.

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, who joined the Inspector-General of Police in decorating AIG Afegbua. The ceremony was attended by family members, senior police officers, and other distinguished guests.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the Command described the promotion as well deserved, highlighting AIG Afegbua’s leadership since assuming office as the 48th Commissioner of Police for Cross River State on July 7, 2025.

According to the statement, Afegbua has strengthened the state’s security architecture through intelligence-led policing, enhanced collaboration with other security agencies, improved community engagement, and sustained strategic crime-fighting initiatives. The Command said these efforts have contributed significantly to the prevailing peace, public safety, and security across Cross River State.

The officers and men of the Cross River State Police Command congratulated the newly decorated Assistant Inspector-General of Police on his elevation, describing him as a professional officer committed to the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command also wished AIG Afegbua continued success as he takes on higher responsibilities in the service.
