Lions Of Obang-Abi Wins Prof Osha Maiden Edition Of Football Tournament

 

It was an exciting moment at Okpeche – Afrike, in Bekwarra Local Government Area, as the Lions of Obang-Abi defeated their rival the Warriors of Obang-Aji in a penalty shootout of 5 against 4 goals, after a 1/1 draw of 90 minutes full time.


Commending the players, Dr. Michael Olah, noted that the players were very skilful throughout the competition and called for support for the organisation of the tournament

Prof Odey Osha represented by Dr. Thomas Ade, noted that “This competition is to bring the youths together and keep them busy and prevent the youth from other social vices. And we wish to form a football team to represent Afrike -Okpeche in future competitions.

“Today we are presenting a gold trophy and medals to the winners. Subsequently, we will equip the Afrike Okpeche football team with befitting Jessies for external competitions”.

Speaking during the presentation of the trophy, Hon. Christopher Odey appreciated God and the sponsor of the tournament and also the elders for the peace in the Community.

On his part, Mr Christopher Olah, a Director of Sports Bekwarra LGA, thanked Prof. Odey Osha for organising this unity cup. “This is the third time I’m coming for tournaments here. This is well organised because of the sponsorship”. He thanked Prof Odey Osha, and all those who supported the tournament. He announced that he will be meeting with the Ochagbe girls tomorrow, for selection to compete with Ogoja and then proceed to Calabar for the quarter finals.
