  • Jarigbe Calls On Elected Officials To Concentrate On Delivering On Their Subsisting Mandates

     

    The senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has called on all elected officials to concentrate on their subsisting mandates and noted that it was preposterous to waste so much time on conversations about 2027 general elections.

    Sen Jarigbe was reacting to the cacophony of voices that surrounds the recent controversy in the political landscape of Cross River State, with many pundits analyzing and permutating the 2027 general elections.

    Sen Jarigbe who acknowledged the sufferings of the people in the rural communities across the state, posited that those of them with various mandates, have a greater task in their hands. He stated that the major task is delivering on their social contract with their people and ameliorating the hardship being experienced by the people who voted for them.

    The law maker who took to his verified Facebook page, @Sen Jarigbe Agom, noted that “I strongly think it’s preposterous to waste so much time on conversations about 2027, when our people are suffering so much in our rural communities across the State. We should concentrate on delivering on the subsisting mandates.

    “For those who have ambitions for 2027, we should know that they have inalienable rights to express themselves. For those of us who hold various mandates, we have a greater task in our hands. The major task is delivering on our social contract with our people and ameliorating the hardship being experienced by the people who voted for us.

    “Let’s get busy! No one knows the next minute. The time is now! I refer us again to Lamentations 3:36 & 37”.

  • Jarigbe Facilitates Installation of Six Solar Powered Boreholes in Obudu, Bekwarra & Yala LGAs

     

    In a bid to increase access to clean water and improve living standards, the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has facilitated the installation of six solar-powered boreholes in Obudu, Bekwarra, and Yala Local Government Areas of Cross River State.

    Located at Bebuagbong and Betukwel in Obudu, Ichogodo-Nyanya and Anyikang in Bekwarra, and Itega-Okpame and Nfuma Ntrigom in Yala LGA, these boreholes are expected to provide clean drinking water for thousands of residents, reducing the risk of water-borne diseases and improving overall health and wellbeing.

    According to Senator Jarigbe, this project is a direct response to his call for universal access to safe, clean, and drinkable water in Cross River North Senatorial District. “I urged constituents to report communities without access to drinkable water, and this project is a direct response,” he explained. “While not all listed communities will receive boreholes simultaneously, I remain committed to doing my best for our people”.

    Senator Jarigbe emphasized the need for a fast, durable, and quality project, particularly during the dry season. Upon completion, the projects will be handed over to the communities.

    This initiative aligns with the lawmaker’s efforts to enhance rural communities through human capital and infrastructural development projects in the Senatorial District.

  • Sen Jarigbe Distributes Organic Liquid Fertilizer And Insecticides To Farmers

     

    In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure food security in Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has distributed organic liquid fertilizers and insecticides to farmers in the Senatorial District.

    This initiative aims to tackle challenges of food crisis, promote sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of rural dwellers, as improve seedlings of pepper, tomatoes, corn, cucumber and Okra were also distributed to the farmers.

    The distribution of these essential farm inputs is expected to increase crop yields, enhance food sufficiency and contribute to the country’s food security. Senator Jarigbe’s commitment to agriculture is evident in his quest to provide farmers with the necessary resources to succeed.

    Mr. Egar Mgbantul who represented the lawmaker noted that, ” The fertilizers and these seeds are basic ingredients that our farmers need to assist them on their farms. Our Senator has promised to continue to do this to assist our farmers in the rural areas”, Egar added.

    This initiative is timely, considering the challenges farmers face in accessing quality farm inputs. It will boost agricultural productivity, stimulate economic growth and develop Cross River State.

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has extended warm felicitations to his constituents and Christians worldwide on this year’s Christmas celebration.

    In a statement released to his media office, Senator Jarigbe urged everyone to embody the values of love, peace, humility, and sacrifice that the season signifies. He encouraged his constituents to make the most of the festive season, wishing them “a joyful, peaceful, and happy festive season.

  • Jarigbe, Akpanke, Offiono Doles Out 54M To Constituents For Christmas

     

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency, Hon Peter Akpanke and his counterpart of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Hon Godwin Offiono have distributed the sum of fifty four million naira (N54m) and 1620 bags of 50kg rice to constituents in Northern Senatorial District for Christmas celebration.

    Senator Jarigbe made the pronouncement when he led the duo of Hon Peter Akpanke and Hon Godwin Offiono, as they visited the five Local Government Areas of Cross River North Senatorial District to mark the Christmas celebration, with each ward getting the sum of N1m and 30 bags of 50kg rice.

    He re-emphasized the reason for the season, adding that Christmas is a season of love, unity and peaceful coexistence irrespective of ethnic, social and religious differences.

    Hon. Akpanke in his remark encouraged constituents to always remain united because in it lies the strength of the umbrella.

    Hon. Godwin Offiono while speaking at various locations appreciated constituents for the maximum support and cooperation which himself and his colleagues have enjoyed so far. He extolled Senator Jarigbe Agom for his sterling leadership qualities that has helped to build and reform the PDP in Cross River North and promised to continue giving his best to ensure the growth and progress of the party in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency & Cross River State.

  • Jarigbe Attends Thanksgiving Mass In Honor Of Brigadier General Sylvester Anyogo

     

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has joined the family and friends of Brigadier General Sylvester Anyogo during a thanksgiving mass at Matter Ecclesiae Catholic Church Alifokpa-Yache.

    The event was held to celebrate and thank God for the life achievements and promotion of the Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Medical Sciences, Brigadier General Sylvester Anyogo in Yache.

    Senator Jarigbe commended the Brigadier General for his outstanding contribution to the nation Nigeria. He encouraged him to continue to be a good ambassador of Cross River North Senatorial and Yache, while serving the nation.

    The lawmaker also supported an ongoing project in the church with the sum of N5m and promised to continue to do his best especially as it concerns the Yache road project.

  • Sen Jarigbe, Akpanke, Others To Be Honored At The Diamond Jubilee Celebration Of Holy Trinity Parish

    The senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as well as Hon Peter Akpanke, Member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku federal constituency and his colleague, Hon Godwin Offiono, member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, are among the dignitaries that will be honored during the rededication of Holy Trinity Parish Ogboja-Ogoja, to mark 60th anniversary of the parish.

    In a release made available to TheLumineNews and signed by the Parish, Rev Fr Felix Ekpe, indicates that the mass which will be presided by the local ordinary and Bishop of Ogoja Diocese, the Most Rev Donatus Edet Akpan, will begin at 10:00 am and will be followed closely with the rededication of the parish.

    The mass will be followed closely with a reception where notable personalities who have contributed to the development of the society and the church will be honored with different awards.

    Others to be honored during the Diamond Jubilee Celebration are: The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Sen Stephen Odey Esq, Engr Ebo Bitru Mbum, Col Ben Ugbuji, Brig Gen Deda Bulus, CP Gabriel Achong Rtd, Amb Capt Modey Magnus – Hart, Dr Christopher Lukpata, Mr Joseph Ntol Igbodor, Mr Okafa Edmund Briate, First Ferdinand Baba Isa

    The release further indicates that the Diamond Jubilee Celebration is a three day celebration with rededication, reception and award presentation slated for Friday 13th December 2024, while group wedding is slated for Saturday 14th December 2024 and Harvest Thanksgiving Mass is slated for Sunday 15th 2024.

  • Sen Jarigbe Attends Funeral Rites Of Wantaregh Paul Unongu

     

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, on Saturday attended the funeral rites of a former Nigerian Minister of Power and Steel, Wantaregh Paul Unongu, in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

    Unongu who had held several political and public offices was until his death Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).

    In a condolence message, Senator Jarigbe described the death of the elder statesman as a loss to not just the good people of Benue State but the entire Nigeria, adding that death has robbed Nigeria of a committed patriot.

    The lawmaker who was accompanied by his friend, Mr. John George and other delegation, described the late Unongu as a perfect gentleman who staunchly believed in the march towards achieving Nigeria’s true destiny as a great nation.

    “Paul Unongu was a true patriotic Nigerian and a quintessential politician who believed in the ideals of democracy. We will miss him but will continue to uphold the ideals he stood for in life,” Senator Jarigbe added.

    He expressed sympathy and offered prayers to the immediate family and the good people of Benue State, urging them to remain strong during this difficult time.

    Some of the dignitaries who attended the funeral include, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, H. E George Akume, the Executive Governor of Benue State, H. E Rev. Fr. Hycent Alia, other top government functionaries and Nigerians from all walks of life.

  • Jarigbe Bids Farewell to Late Senator Joseph Wayas As His Remains Is Laid To Rest

     

    As the remains of the former Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas was finally laid to rest on November 30, 2024, in his country home of Basang, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State, the senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom was in attendance to pay his last respects to the late statesman.

    Dr. Wayas, who passed away on November 30, 2021, in the United Kingdom, was honored with a state ceremony at U. J Esuene Stadium before his remains were transported to Basang for final rites.

    Senator Jarigbe, in his condolence message, praised Dr. Wayas’ remarkable contribution to Nigeria’s democracy and development. He highlighted the late icon’s leadership as Senate President during the Second Republic and his commitment to national unity and progress.

    “Senator Wayas lived a good life and was there for his people which is why we have all come down to honor him due to his remarkable achievements”, Senator Jarigbe added.

    The burial ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, former Gov Ben Ayade, Sen Asuquo Ekpenyong, Sen Jones Eteng, the Hon. Minister of State (Industry), Senator John Owan Enor, Senators representing Cross River Central and South Senatorial Districts, member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku and his counterpart of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, former governors, members of the State Executive Council, members of the State House of Assembly, Councils Chairmen, Councillors amongst others.
