    Sen Jarigbe Agom Presents Scorecard To Mark One Year In The 10th Senate

     

    On the 13th day of June, 2023, Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe was inaugurated as Senator of the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

    After surmounting the herculean task of defeating the incumbent Governor to become Senator, Representing the people of Cross River North Senatorial District, he was hugely distracted with post-election litigations.

    Despite the distractions, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has continued to show unprecedented dexterity and enthusiasm in the discharge of his constitutional duties and responsibilities to his constituents:

    1. Due to his competence and experience, he was appointed, Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas.

    3. The Leadership of the Senate also appointed him as Board Member of the Governing Council of National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS)

    Jarigbe Facilitates Training and Empowerment Of 500 Youths of Cross River North

     

    As part of the activities to mark Nigeria’s 25th years of uninterrupted democracy, the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has facilitated training on Aquaculture Data Management and Empowerment for 500 youths in Cross River North Senatorial District.

    Senator Jarigbe who was represented by the Constituency Officer, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, noted that, the exercise will help to meet the ever-growing demand for seafood and provide Constituents with healthy protein, while reducing the pressure on wild fishes.

    According to the lawmaker, the sector plays a significant role in ensuring food security, as fish is a major source of animal protein in Nigeria and also contributes to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through exports and domestic consumption.

    “The empowerment programme is in line with the objective of grooming the youths to become job-creators, rather than job-seekers”.

    “It is hoped that this will encourage the youths in our constituency to take up fish farming and other agricultural activities to empower themselves,’’ Egar added.

    Constituents were selected from the fifty four (54) Wards of the Senatorial District and were awarded with start-up grants to enable them prepare a tank, get fingerlings and other necessary materials needed to breed the fingerlings to maturity stage.

    Some the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Senator Jarigbe for providing them with such opportunity. They prayed that the good Lord should continue to strengthen him to enable him do more for them.

    Fellow Nigerians,

    Respected Constituents,

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

    It is with immense pride and gratitude that I join all democrats to celebrate a remarkable milestone in our nation’s history – 25 years of unbroken democracy. This occasion provides us with a moment to reflect on our journey, honor those who paved the way, and reaffirm our commitment to the principles of democracy.

    First and foremost, let us pay tribute to the forefathers of our democracy. These courageous men and women fought tirelessly, many putting their lives on the line, to ensure that Nigeria could rise as a democratic nation. Their vision, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication laid the foundation upon which our democracy stands. We owe them an eternal debt of gratitude for their unparalleled contributions to our nation’s political evolution.

    In a special way, we must extend our heartfelt thanks to former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR.     Jarigbe Agom Speaks In Support, As Senate Passes #98.5bn FCT 2024 Supplementary Budget

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, earlier today urged the Senate to pass the FCT Supplementary Budget due to the infrastructural transformation going on in and around the Federal Capital Territory.

    Senator Jarigbe noted that, with the kind of reforms and infrastructural projects going on in the FCT, the Senate should not waste time but pass the budget to enable the FCT Minister and his team continue with the good works they are doing.

    The Senate on Tuesday passed the sum of N98.5 billion as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2024.

    The passage of the Bill followed the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on FCT during plenary.

    Recall that the Senate had last week stepped down the Bill, saying the details of the budget needed to accompany it.

    The Vice Chairman of the Committee, Senator Osita Ngwu (PDP-Enugu West) presented the report on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Bomai Mohammed (APC-Yobe South) who was absent during the plenary.

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has reiterated his commitment to support Small and Medium Scale businesses and other entrepreneurial endeavors across the Senatorial District.

    Speaking when he made a brief stop to interact with petty traders at Abouchiche, Bekwarra LGA, he commended the women for their commitment to their businesses even in the face of adversity and current economic challenges facing the country.

    The lawmaker who spent time to encourage the women, assured them that, he will not accommodate idleness, adding that, there are deliberate policies and empowerment programs that will primarily target SMEs only.

    Supporting twenty (20) women who sell Beans Pudding (moi moi) with the sum of N100,000 each (N2m), Jarigbe exemplified empathetic leadership which entails listening to subjects, validating emotions and offering support when necessary.

    He has created a safe and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued, appreciated and well understood in Cross River North Senatorial District.

    President of the Nigerian Senate, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has hosted the first annual Legislative Summit on Renewable Energy, with a call for collaboration, regular engagement and exchange to unlock the potentials of the sector in Nigeria.

    At the submit held on Monday in Abuja, Senator Akpabio enjoined stakeholders from public and private sectors to drive necessary innovations and advancements in renewable energy.

    Represented by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the Senate President said the hosting of the submit brings attention to the fact that renewable energy is not just a passing trend or an optional path, but the future and key to sustainable development, economic growth, cleaner and healthier planet.

    According to him, “by fully exploiting the legal and institutional framework, we can increase access to energy for all Nigerian citizens and industries while reducing our reliance on fossil fuels thereby mitigating the impact of climate change.”

    He further enjoined the stakeholders to come together with the belief that a new country where clean, affordable and accessible energy is not just a dream, but a reality.

    Some dignatories present at the event include the Director General NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Suleiman, Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Rt. Hon. Victor Afam Ogene.

    Residents of Alladim in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State have applauded the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, over the construction of 1.5 kilometer section of Alladim road in the community.

    Community leaders and other residents who spoke on various occasions disclosed that the construction of the community road has eased the burden of motorists and motorcycle riders and has further opened the community to further development.

    Mrs. Philomena Odey who is a resident of the community, stated that the area which is the largest assemblage of local garri processing factories would benefit more as motorists loading bags to the urban areas will have easy access to the Community.

    According to her, the construction of the road has saved residents from hazards of gully erosion and other road accidents that have claimed lives of some people in the past.

    Addressing the community at the completion of the project, the Constituency Officer, Mr Egar Mgbantul appreciated the community for their collaborative efforts with the contractors which enabled them to meet up with the stipulated time.

    Senator Jarigbe is committed to the infrastructural and human capital development of Cross River North, let us give him the required support to enable him continue with his good works.

    Jarigbe Distributes Carriage Tricycles To Constituents In Cross River North Senatorial District

     

    In continuation of the Christmas/New Year celebration, the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has distributed Carriage tricycles to selected stakeholders of his Senatorial District.

    Distributing the items, the Senator through his Constituency Officer, Mr Egar Mgbantul, noted that, the program is aimed at eradicating poverty and empowering constituents in a bid to have access to economic wellbeing.

    “We chose this type of palliative because people are bringing back their farm produce from their farms. This is more like pick-up vehicles that can carry goods, farm produce and people”, Jarigbe added.

    He called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the items, promising to continue his various forms of intervention programs, in order to fight poverty and restiveness in the society.

    Some of the beneficiaries present expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the gesture, stating that the initiative is another form of mechanized farming that will enable them cater for their respective families. Other beneficiaries were either represented or conspicuously absent as at the time of distribution.

    Contractors Resume Work On The Ukelle-Oju Road Facilitated By Sen Jarigbe Agom 

     

    Yesterday, the 14th day Of January 2024, the contractor handling the Ukelle-Oju road project, returned to site to continue work after the holidays.

    The constituency officer to Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Mr Egar Mgbantul and other community members in Ukelle, Yala Local Government Area Of Cross River State, received the team of engineers and addressed community members on the commencement of another phase of work on the road for the year 2024.

    Mr. Egar Mgbantul charged the engineers to always keep to standards as the lawmaker will not tolerate poorly done job.

    After all deliberation, both community members and the constituency officer prayed before commencement of excavation of the road by the engineers.
