    The senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, attended the funeral mass of His Royal Highness, Late Chief Ubiet Stephen Odom, in Ntrigom Clan, South Ukelle, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.

    The lawmaker led a delegation of PDP leaders, including Hon. Godwin Offiono, Hon. Vena Ikem, Chief Austin Edibe, Dr. Mike Aniah, Chief Igbe Aruku, Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim, Barr. Paul Ishabor, Barr. Paul Ebiala, Jimmy Aninege, Royjones Akpak and Boniface Ishamali who offered condolences to the bereaved family.

    At the ceremony, Senator Jarigbe eulogized Chief Odom as a pillar of strength, wisdom, and leadership, whose legacy will inspire those who knew him, particularly in Cross River North Senatorial District. He acknowledged Chief Odom’s significant contributions to the district’s development and wellbeing, saying they will never be forgotten.

    In his message of condolence, Senator Jarigbe said, “May you find comfort in the cherished memories and positive impacts of his life. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this challenging period.”

    Additionally, Senator Jarigbe supported St. Jude’s Catholic Church Ipollo, South Ukelle where the funeral mass was held with a N5 million donation to support the church project, demonstrating his commitment to the community’s development and wellbeing.

    May the soul of Chief Ubiet Stephen Odom rest in peace.

    Sen Jarigbe Agom Leads Condolence Visit to Ogoja PDP Chapter Chairman

     

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has led a delegation of PDP leaders to condole with Hon. Emmanuel Odidi, Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogoja Local Government Area, over the passing of his mother, Mrs. Cecilia Efuenke Odidi.

    At the funeral rites in Oboso Mbube East Ward 2, Ogoja, Senator Jarigbe praised Mrs. Cecilia as a matriarch who impacted lives and served as a model to follow. He consoled Hon. Odidi and the people of Oboso, acknowledging the significant role she played in the community.

    Senator Jarigbe described Mrs. Odidi’s passing as a loss to the entire Ogoja Local Government Area, saying, “We will miss mama, but we will continue to uphold the ideals she stood for in life.”

    Hon. Godwin Offiono, Chief Austin Edibe, Chief Igbe Aruku, Dr. Francis Bullem, and other leaders also paid their condolences to Hon. Odidi and prayed for Mrs. Cecilia’s soul.

    May her soul rest in peace.

    Jarigbe Admonishes Gas Distribution License Operators To Prioritize Safety And Efficiency

    The senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, and Chairman Senate Committee on Gas, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has admonished licensed operators to prioritize safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability, stressing that their role is vital in driving Nigeria’s gas sector growth and positioning the country as a global energy leader.

    Sen Jarigbe Agom made the admonition during the Gas Distribution Licence Award.

    The lawmaker commended the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) for issuing the first batch of Gas Distribution Licences, as stipulated in section 148 of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021.

    Sen Jarigbe averred that “Gas Distribution Licence Award marks a significant milestone in enhancing domestic gas infrastructure, creating jobs, stimulating economic growth, and delivering cleaner energy solutions to Nigerian households and industries. This development aligns with Nigeria’s vision of a prosperous, sustainable, and energy-secure future”.

    As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, the lawmaker reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to supporting the growth of the gas industry and fostering a legislative framework that encourages investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

    Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has disclosed that construction work on the Ukpagada bridge is ninety-five percent completed and would soon be inaugurated.

    Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, said the critical infrastructure has reached an advanced stage with the successful completion of piers construction and beam placement.

    This is as a result of the successful concrete decking which has been carefully laid out to ensure a robust and durable foundation for the bridge.

    The lawmaker restated his commitment to transform Cross River North Senatorial District, adding that the bridge construction was designed to make rural dwellers comfortable and open up rural communities for development.

    Sen. Jarigbe in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works is committed to delivering this enviable task according to its full specifications and design after which the project will be commissioned and handed over to the communities.

    Commending the Senator for his transformative programmes, the Clan Head of Ukpagada, Ntol Julius Mobre, expressed delight at the quality and level of work done, describing Senator Jarigbe as “a qualitative representative” while praying for God to bless him.

    Also hailing the Senator, a cleric of Church of Christ, Mr. Mike Udam, said: “The project is a testament of pragmatic leadership focused on delivering projects that have a huge positive impact on the people.

    “I m happy to be a whistle blower. I am more happier, the Senator picked up the sound of the whistle and acted on it”, he added.

    The road project, cutting across four communities of Ukpagada, Ukpe, Alladim and Igodor, was facilitated by Senator Jarigbe and aims at alleviating the suffering of commuters and residents.

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has facilitated the rehabilitation and installation of new electrical equipment in Ibil, Ogoja Local Government Area, in order to restore power supply, guarantee reliability, sustainability and safety in power supply.

    Senator Jarigbe who was represented by the Constituency Officer, Mr. Egar Mgbantul at the flag-off, noted that, the power sector remains the ultimate key to unlocking other sectors of an asphyxiating Nigerian economy.

    According to the lawmaker, the project became necessary as a result of obsolescence, equipment failure and his determination to undertake an upgrade of equipment and civil works in order to forestall damages, thereby restoring power supply, improving stability and reliability of power in the affected communities.

    “This project is of critical importance because it deals with the power sector, which I believe is pivotal to economic growth. Indeed, if we fix power challenges in Cross River North, a lot of other sectors would fall in place”, Jarigbe added.

    The rehabilitation project upon completion, will bring improvement in stability and reliability of power supply in Ibil, Ogoja and Cross River North Senatorial District.

    Primary Health Care Needs Urgent Attention To Cater For Vulnerable Nigerians, Says Senator Jarigbe Agom

     

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has called on the Federal government to urgently address the infrastructural deficit in Primary Health Care institutions nationwide.

    The lawmaker made the call yesterday, when he supported a bill sponsored by Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu (Enugu West) seeking the Establishment of Health Infrastructure Development Agency 2024 (SB.135).

    According to Senator Jarigbe, the Health sector is of great interest to not just the ordinary citizens but to the entire citizenry. He noted that the bill will help to address infrastructural decay in both the primary and secondary health care institutions.

    “It is with profound interest in the health sector, that I stand up to support this bill. We discovered that even in our tertiary health institution, we hardly have equipment, not to talk of the primary health care institutions that take care of the very vulnerable ones in our society”

    “We go to our various communities, the primary health care facilities do not have basic equipment such as thermometers and sphygmomanometers” he added.

    The Bill which was read the second time, seeks to provide a comprehensive framework to guide the planning, financing, construction, maintenance, and regulation of healthcare infrastructure in Nigeria.

    Thereafter, the Bill was put to a voice vote by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibril Barau, who presided over the session and it was passed and referred to the Senate Committee on Health Institutions for further legislative input.

    The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, received in audience the Women in Energy Network (WIEN), a non-profit organization, led by the President, Eyono Fatayi-Williams, at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

    The visit was basically to pledge their support towards advancing Nigeria’s developmental goals in the energy sector.

    During the occasion, the Lawmaker reiterated his commitment to advocating for legislation that supports female entrepreneurship, combats discrimination and creates an enabling environment for women to excel in all sectors.

    He assured that, as a Senator, he will continue to support the vision of Women-in-Energy group because it aligns with the nation’s goals of economic development, sustainability and social equity so that Nigeria can be lighted, not just with electricity, but with brilliance of empowered women leading the charge.

    Senator Jarigbe, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas also noted that, the group’s efforts to advocate for greater inclusion of women in energy are not just about gender equality; but to enhance the overall capacity and innovation in the energy sector.

    “It is through your leadership and mentorship that we can nurture the next generation of female engineers, scientists and leaders in the energy sector”, he reiterated.

    Speaking earlier, the WIEN President, Mrs. Eyono Fatayi-Williams, stated that, they seek to achieve gender diversity and inclusion, a supportive environment where women can thrive and contribute significantly to the Energy Industry.

    Other members of the group also emphasized that they are keenly interested in the incredible work undertaken by the current administration with a shared commitment to diversify and include the energy industry, adding that there are valuable opportunities for collaboration.

    It was an ecstatic moment of boisterous celebration as the duo of Sen Jarigbe Agom and Hon Peter Akpanke were honored and conferred with traditional titles by Igwo Community, Begiading ward, in Obudu Local Government Area.

    The event which held at St Michael’s Primary School, Igwo drew dignitaries from both within and outside the local government area.

    Declaring the event opened, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr Emmanuel Ugbe, former Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, commended the good works that Sen Jarigbe Agom and Hon Peter Akpanke, has begun in Igwo community and described the duo as the face of contemporary leadership we all yearn for.

    Ugbe thanked the Igwo community for the recognition accorded Sen Jarigbe and Hon Peter Akpanke and the decision to honor them.

    In a welcome speech presented by the Igwo community, Prof Dave Ugal, extended gratitude to the Clan Head of Igwo community and his council of chiefs, for graciously granting the approval to honor and confer the traditional titles on their invitees.

    Ugal explain that “We listened to Sen Jarigbe Agom, when he came to campaign in our community and promised us to fix the roads leading to both the primary and secondary schools. As if we were dreaming, we saw contractors commemced the grading of the two roads, and we wondered if we have people with conscience who keep to their words.

    “Hon Peter Akpanke, the Solid Rock, also pledged to fix a classroom block in the secondary, he has also mobilize contractors to site. It is on this premise that we invited them for this recognition and to say thank you for remembering us. As Oliver Twist, we can only ask for more”.

    Speaking while presenting the award of honor and the subsequent conferment of the titles, the Clan Head of Igwo community, His Royal Highness, Utsu Cornellus Ulem, noted that the conferment is devoid of bias of political affiliation. He noted that “Anyone who comes to assist us fix our problems, we will recognize and celebrate such a person”.

    Sen Jarigbe Agom was conferred with the title of Unwaa Ubuu Kubong of Igwo, while Hon Peter Akpanke, was conferred with the title of Unwaa Ukpel Bendi of Igwo.

    Responding, Sen Jarigbe Agom, who was unavoidably absent and was represented by the Vice Chairman North of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Chief Austin Edibe, noted that he was glad that his little efforts to give his people the representation they yearn for was yielding some very positive impacts.

    Sen Jarigbe promised to stop at nothing to ensure that his constituents in Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku federal constituency have every need to celebrate having supported him and his brother Peter.

    On his part, Hon Peter Akpanke, thanked the Igwo community for the gesture and held that “this recognition should spur us up to do things right, so that the next we come here, you will be the people that will count our projects”.

    The lawmaker told the Igwo community that the 2024 federal budget has projects spread across the OBO federal constituency.

    The community had previously conferred on Mr Venatius Ikem Esq, Chairman of the PDP, Cross River State chapter, Unwaa Ushe. 

    The event witnessed dance performances by different groups and defection of some members of different political parties to the PDP, citing the unwavering performance of Sen Jarigbe Agom and Hon Peter Akpanke in Igwo community.

    The senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District, Sen Jarigbe Agom has stated that what his constituents has seen in terms of projects execution in Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State, is a tip an iceberg and assured them to expect more in the coming days.

    Jarigbe made the disclosure during the thanksgiving mass held in honor at St Benedict Cathedral, Ogoja Local Government Area today 31st March 2024.

    In his words “My heart overflows with gratitude and humility on this memorable day of our thanksgiving. Our victory in the recent general elections, against formidable odds, is not merely a personal triumph but a collective achievement of unwavering determination and unyielding support. What you have seen in terms of projects execution is just a tip of an iceberg compared to what lies ahead of us.

    “To my constituents of Cross River North Senatorial District, your faith in me, your overwhelming support, and your resolute determination to see change have propelled us to this historic moment. Your voices, your votes, and unwavering belief in a better future have spoken volumes, and I am deeply honored to have earned your trust. Rest assured, I carry your aspirations with me to the hallowed halls of the senate, and I pledge to serve you with utmost dedication, integrity and passion.

    “To the dignitaries and guests gathered here today, your presence signifies not only your support but also your commitment to the democratic process. Your encouragement and endorsement have bolstered our campaign and lent credibility to our cause. I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your solidarity.

    “In a special way, I want to express my profound gratitude to those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, whose dedication often goes unnoticed but whose contributions are invaluable.     The thanksgiving mass which was attended by senators, House of Representatives members, leaders of the PDP, industry players, traditional rulers, religious leaders and constituents.

    The lawmaker made a donation of 10M to support the ongoing renovation work at St Benedict’s Cathedral Ogoja, and 2M to support the Christian Women Organization CWO.

    The Senate President, Sen Godswill Akpabio, made a donation of 50M through Sen Jarigbe Agom, to support the building of the new cathedral that is already under construction.

    On his part, Bishop Donatus Edet Akpan, commended senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, who he addressed as his spiritual son, having recognized the source of his victory and reminded all that power and all authorities comes from God.

    The Bishop noted that so some of those that God came through for them, did not deem it necessary to return to God in thanksgiving.

    He used the opportunity to encourage Sen Jarigbe Agom, to continue to serve his people with sincerity of purpose.
