One of the major supporters of Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom, Mr. Peter Akpanke code named (Peter the Rock) has congratulated the senator-elect, for his victory at the supreme court yesterday.

In a release made available to The Lumine News, Mr. Akpanke noted that Jarigbe’s victory is a confirmation that the voice of the people is the voice of God.

Mr. Akpanke described the tripartite victory at the (High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court) as unprecedented.

The party stalwart noted that “Jarigbe’s emergence has opened a new chapter that envisage hope and libration for Northern Cross River in particular and the entire state at large.

Referring to senator-elect, he noted that “I commend very sincerely your doggedness and resilience in the pursuit of what rightly belongs to you.

“This is the beginning of the many good things that awaits you. You are a shining star and a leading example”

Mr. Akpanke likened Jarigbe’s stolen mandate and the subsequent reclaiming of his victory to the mishap that befell Ziklag, when the Amalakites had raided Southern Judah, attacked Ziklag and looted everything. When David arrived, he sought the Lord’s permission to go after the Amalikites.

In 1Sam 30:8 & 18. “David asked the Lord, Shall I go after those raiders? And will I catch them? And the Lord answered, pursue them, and recover everything” Verse 18 “David rescued everyone and everything Amalakites had taken”

Mr. Akpanke averred that the success that is recorded throughout the sojourn can only be attributed to God’s benevolence and will. He commended the goodwill and prayers of all the supporters.

He assured that the senator-elect will do his best to justify this mandate and the goodwill enjoyed from the people of northern cross river across party lines.

The elated Mr. Akpanke used the opportunity to thank God who stood firmly by him and all those who believed and championed the emancipation of cross river northern senatorial district.

  • Court Of Appeal Declares Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe PDP Senatorial Candidate For Cross River North

Court Of Appeal Declares Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe PDP Senatorial Candidate For Cross River North

The battle for the Cross River North Senatorial seat which was won by the Peoples Democratic Party at the December 5, rescheduled elections has taken a different twit 24 hours after Dr. Stephen Odey was sworn in by the Clerk of the Senate.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has just declared Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as the duly nominated candidate of the PDP and the rightful winner of the election against Dr. Odey who was declared by INEC and sworn in by the Senate.

The Court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to immediately issue a Certificate of Return to Hon. Jarigbe and withdraw the one earlier issued to Dr. Stephen Odey.

In its unanimous judgment, the court of Appeal upheld the judgment of the trial court that the primaries which produced Jarigbe was conducted with the correct and authentic list of delegates and that Hon Jarigbe having scored the highest number of valid votes in the primary election is the validly nominated candidate of the PDP.

The Appeal Court also upheld the position of the Federal High Court that the primary election was duly monitored by the INEC in line with the law hence was a valid primary election of the PDP.

This judgment has abruptly halted the seeming advantage Dr. Stephen Odey got yesterday when he was invited by the Clerk of the Senate to take his oath of office and allegiance. This is despite another order of the FCT High Court which restrained the Senate from swearing Dr. Odey in as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

By this judgment and until the Supreme Court gives its final judgment, Hon. Jarigbe is expected to be sworn in immediately to sit to represent the good people of Cross River North Senatorial District.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan Swears In Stephen Odey As Senator Representing Cross River North

The Nigerian Senate today sworn in Stephen Odey as senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial district.

Odey was not sworn in along others yesterday, which sparked speculations that he was rejected base on the injunction gotten by the Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, who was a major contender for the party ticket.

Two Federal High Courts of equal jurisdictions had given conflicting judgment to both Stephen and Jarigbe as authentic flag bearers of the PDP ticket.

Odey was however given the certificate of return. A development that led Rt. Jarigbe to get the court injunction to restraint the inauguration.

The Struggle For Emancipation Continues, As I celebrate my 50th Birth Anniversary – Jarigbe Agom.

    By Elijah Ugani

The member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has stated that the steuggle for the emancipation of Cross River North Senatorial District continues as he celebrates his 50th birth anniversary.

The lawmaker used the opportunity to pray for those who were maimed and killed in the struggle during the PDP primaries election.

His message on his birthday is that we eschew bitterness in this game of politics and give room for participatory politics, rather than being dictatorial and suppressive.

The message reads in full “The Struggle for Emancipation continues, as I celebrate my 50th birthday.

“Politics is not War but I see some people take it personally. Its a game of wits. I accept defeat when I am outwitted and I think others should accept defeat when outwitted and re-strategize.

“Its as clear as crystals, the preference of the majority of the people in CRNorth as it concerns the Senate Seat. Its also obvious that the Gov wants to foist his Candidate on our people. He is actually using our common patrimony and State Resources to achieve this but that’s the politics. You use what you have, to get what you want, so no one should be bitter about it. He has a right to his ambitions. My only reservation is that, he doesn’t think others should express themselves because there is a Governor. I grew up in a home that encouraged me to be competitive and not timid.

“My message on my birthday is that we eschew bitterness in this game of politics and give room for participatory politics, rather than being dictatorial and suppressive.

“ITS A GAME. LET US ENJOY IT TOGETHER. NO BAD BLOOD. AT THE END, LET’S BE READY TO CONGRATULATE THE PERSON THAT EMERGES, BUT FOR NOW, ITS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE.

“FINALLY, TO MY SUPPORTERS, I SAY, THE BATTLE JUST STARTED. LAMENTATIONS 3: 36 & 37.

    “I remain unconquerable”.

A Good Product Attracts Buyers, Says Team Jari

    By Admin

A socio political group, Team Jari, known to be drumming support for the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, and factional candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, in the forth coming CNS bye election, has continued in its advocacy to change the people’s perception about its principal.

The group has stated that a good product will naturally attract buyers. The group made this known in a release made available to The Lumine News indicates that they don’t need much energy to sell the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Agom, considering his acceptability across party lines and the entire senatorial district.

The release reads in full “It is a known fact that people love and patronise good products no matter how expensive there are. Many go any length to get what seems good and precious to them. This ideology isn’t restricted to only commodities in the market, it can also be likened to politics.

“Nigeria democracy has come a long way and the sustainability and dividends of the democracy is in high demand. Political position isn’t a settlement venture neither is it an entitlement. It is not exclusively reserved for any commando or conqueror. Political position is for prepared and determined minds who are ready to work selflessly for the overall good of the masses. Such politicians don’t struggle to get to any political office.

“Talking of Cross River North Senatorial district and the progress so far in the Senate, the region has produced seemingly many politicians who are yet to live up to expectations. The region has remained underdeveloped with politicians selfishly serving their own interests instead of the overall interest of the masses that voted them.

“For five years running, RT. Hon. Jarigbe Agom, member representing Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency, has performed incredibly, more than past and present occupants of same position and even higher positions. Rt.Hon. Jarigbe’s performance in Five years as a House of Representatives member has sold him convincingly to the masses. Both old and Young sings Jarigbe’s praises and prays for his elevation. This is due to the overwhelming impact the MP has created and is still creating.

“The opportunity is here for the entire Cross River Northern Senatorial district to feel the impact of uncommon representation of Rt. Hon Jarigbe Agom. It is already a truism that the masses has accepted him, delegates voted massively for him at the 5th September primary and he has emerged the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), against all odds.

“We are not oblivious of the handiwork of some overzealous elements who are hell-bent on subjugating the overwhelming wish of the people to their selfish desires, an attempt the masses and good spirited democrats are fighting gloriously in the court of law against.

“To us and the common man in CRN, Jarigbe remains the hope and future of the region. His impeccable performance in the House of Representatives has totally sold him such that, he doesn’t need too much preaching for people to buy him. The masses have bought Rt.Hon. Jarigbe and it remains so”.

  • Peter Akpanke Makes List Of Hon. Jarigbe Agom’s Campaign Council

Peter Akpanke Makes List Of Hon. Jarigbe Agom’s Campaign Council

    By Elijah Ugani

Barely 24 hours after Mr. Peter Akpanke dissociated self from the campaign council of the factional candidate of the PDP in the October 31st 2020, CRN senatorial district rerun election, he has been nominated into the campaign council of Rt. Jarigbe Agom’s campaign council.

Mr. Peter Akpanke is the President/Founder of The Akpanke’s Foundation, a nonprofit and humanitarian organization that has touched the lives of most vulnerable persons in the northern senatorial district and is said to have a broad support base across the district.

He is said to be a staunch supporter of the Member of Parliament, who he believes is a pathfinder and the hope of the northern senatorial district of our dream.

Though, Mr. Akpanke cited non compliance with with Democratic tenets by Dr. Stephen Odey over his inclusion into his campaign council, it is a known fact that his attachment and support for the MP is the major reason for his dissociation.

This is however the first time since the return to democracy in 1999 that two persons are laying claims to the party ticket.

  • The Ritual Of constituency Projects And Legislative representation: Why We Need A Rethink In Cross River North.

The Ritual Of constituency Projects And Legislative representation: Why We Need A Rethink In Cross River North.

    By Agustine Aboh

For weeks now the cyberspace, especially the social media space have been crowded with news of constituencies empowerments by of Representatives at the national assembly; Legor and Jari (being a norm).

It must be noted that since the inception of our contemporary democracy over two decades ago, nothing or very little has changed in content and context of constituency projects and empowerments.

Ranging from Car and Bike gifts to uncritical loyal foot soldiers and ass-kissers, to wrappers, blocks of six class rooms, toilets, solar streets lights that do not last beyond the day of commissioning, borehole, the regular Magi and salt and conditional cash gifts.

These have been unchanged, and in the present age of liberal democracy and Fourth industrial revolution, Representatives in CRN still gifts us these benign items.

Now, back home! Last week I saw Legor gifting Cars to his loyalists in Bekwarra and a Funny looking Obudu-ogoja taxi like Passat to Obudu. Obanliku was not included as usual. Instead, bikes were given to PDP Ward chairmen in Obanliku glorified by a self vilified HOA member in Obanliku.

To cut the long story short, I think it’s time we begin to rethink what constituency projects and empowerments should be and hold our Representatives answerable.

That’s right, but some greedy never do well loyalists will say we are wailing and seeking for cheap publicity – at least Google my name and see how far am know and reference across the globe.

For Obanliku, I think we should begin the process of requesting what constituency projects and empowerments should get to us and our people that will make meaning to our desired quest for prosperity as a people well-neglected and self-injured.

    It won’t be a bad idea we ask Legor and who ever becomes the next senator to include in their 2021 constituency budgets such items like;

    1. A befitting Palace for our Paramount Ruler in Sankwala, Obanliku.

    2. Construction equipments like bulldozer, a payloader, tractor, and other such equipments that will help the local government to open access roads, control erosions and give succour to our people who can not afford to bring their produce to local markets. Since we all know the present state of slavering malnourishment of our Local government resources taken hostage by a family dynasty and Czar.

    3. Enhance Human capital development by giving responsible and reasonable scholarships.

    4. Work as committee members or chairman to help our unemployed graduates littering our villages as it’s done elsewhere.

    5. Provide our farmers with improved seeds and seedlings. And any other projects the communities through reliable needs assessment have presented.
Let it be known that am not against settling of party loyalists but these shouldn’t be done at the expense of community development. It’s time we all know that politics and governance is all our collective business.

In our constituency, Legor is not doing us any favors, let it be known that these are our monies.

Thank God ICPC have started tracking constituency projects starting in CRS with those of Sen John Owan Eno. They’re coming and we’ll be here to furnish them any information they might need. And Legor should not be doing this car gifts alongside his unsaleable Senatorial Candidate, it speaks volumes of the context of his supposed constituency empowerments.

    I come in Peace! Shalom!!
