Catholic Diocese of Ogoja Dissociates From The Viral video Where Rev Fr Nicodemus Ajil Prevented Worshipers Without PVC From Attending Mass

The Catholic Diocese of Ogoja has dissociated from the viral video where Rev Fr Nicodemus Ajil prevented worshipers from attending Mass for not having the Permanent Voter’s Card PVC at St Matthew’s Parish Utugwang, Obudu on Sunday, 12th June 2023.

In a release sighted by TheLumineNews and signed by the Director of Communication of the Diocese, Rev Fr Emma Eroh, indicates that the action is never a diocesan policy.

The release reads in full:

“The attention of His Lordship, Most Rev Donatus Akpan, Bishop of Ogoja Diocese has been drawn to a viral video where Rev Fr Nicodemus Ajil prevented worshipers from attending Mass at St Matthew’s Parish Utugwang, Obudu on the Sunday 12th June 2023.

“The Bishop frowns at the action of the priest and reiterates that this is NEVER a diocesan policy. Bishop Akpan further dissociates the diocese from the unfortunate incidence and regret any inconveniences caused. The Priest in question has been called to order.

“However, His Lordship encourages all christians to be committed to their civil duties and responsibilities as Nigerians”.
