The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, DSSRS, has visited the displaced victims of Belegete Community of Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State to sympathize with them.
About 20 thousand displaced families from Belegete village of Obanliku LGA are currently seeking refuge in Amana, Becheve and Obudu Mountains Resort, following an invasion from Ambazonian separatists from Southern Cameroon.
The lawmaker donated 50 bags of rice, a cash sum of N2 million and promised immediate medical intervention to cushion the effect of the dehumanizing conditions of the victims.
He condemned the abductions and killing of the village head of Akornyapeni, Chief Ogweshi Francis and other indigenes of the community and promised to call the attention of all necessary government agencies for the deployment of adequate security, and further encouraged the victims to remain united especially during Christmas and beyond.
Responding, the Chiefs, elders and other members of the community appreciated the Senator for the visit. They highlighted the fact that he is the first politician to have remembered them by facilitating the installation of solar street lights and prayed that God should continue to bless him.
In his entourage were; Chief Udie Mike, Hon. Pius Ashakia, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, Awu Rufus, Dr. Valentine Abiji, Adie Ishiekwen, Timothy Nanung, Boniface Adie amongst others.
