Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, has joined other prominent Nigerians to celebrate former Attorney-General of the Federation and elder statesman, Chief Godwin Kanu Agabi, SAN, CON, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
Senator Jarigbe attended a public lecture organised in honour of the legal luminary on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Bencher’s Hall, Body of Benchers, Abuja.
The lecture, themed “Prioritising Ethical Conduct and Anti-Corruption Measures in Governance in Nigeria,” attracted members of the legal profession, political leaders, government officials, family members, friends and other well-wishers.
Speaking at the event, Senator Jarigbe described Chief Agabi as an accomplished legal practitioner and public servant whose life, according to him, reflects integrity, humility, justice and commitment to public service.
The senator said Chief Agabi had distinguished himself through his contributions to the legal profession, governance and nation-building, adding that his commitment to service had made him a respected figure beyond the legal community.
Jarigbe also highlighted Chief Agabi’s relationship with the people of Cross River North, noting that he is highly regarded in the district for his empathy, philanthropy, wisdom and contributions to the advancement of the people.
He described the 80th birthday milestone as an opportunity to reflect on Chief Agabi’s years of service and contributions to Nigeria, while commending his influence on younger generations.
The senator congratulated the elder statesman and wished him renewed strength, good health, peace of mind and many more years of service to humanity and the nation.
He also prayed that Chief Agabi’s new chapter would be marked by continued wisdom, grace and meaningful contributions to society.
Chief Godwin Kanu Agabi, SAN, CON, is a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and has had a long career in law and public service.
