Calabar: A Young Man Almost Lynched To Death For Attempting To Snatch A Woman’s Bag

A young man was almost lynched to death by angry mob for attempting to snatch a woman’s bag, allegedly filled with money in Calabar, Cross River State.

The incident happened on Saturday morning at the University of Calabar, UNICAL Main Gate.

According to an eyewitness, the suspected thief was trailing the woman after making withdrawals from an ATM before he was apprehended by the mob.

The eyewitness, who did not want his name on print said it took the help of Air force police to the suspect rescue as his motorcycle was set ablaze.

“The thief was almost burnt to death by angry mob at the early morning (of Saturday, December 5, 2020) at UNICAL Main Gate roundabout.

“The guy (suspect) attempted to snatch a woman’s bag of money but was caught by passersby. His motorcycle was set ablaze.

“However, the criminal was rescued by Airport Policemen before he could be thrown into the fire”, the eyewitness said.
