Nigerian Red Cross Society Calls For Application From Health Workers For Refugees Project In Cross River

Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) is seeking to engage qualified applicants who will be interested to work as volunteers on her UNHCR refugee project in various Primary Health Care Centre HCs in Cross
River State as follows:

State: Cross River

Location of the PHCs in Cross River State.

Ogoja: Adagom and Ukende

Obanliku: Upranch, Utanga and Amana.

Boki: Bashua, Orim-Ekpang, Biajua,
Danare and Bashu

Etung: Ajassor, Agbokim waterfall.

Akamkpa: Osomba

Calabar Municipality: Red Cross PHC, Garden street.

Bakassi: Ikang.

The following professionals are
needed.

1. Midwives/Nurse-Midwives.

Requirement:
i. Must be a registered Nurse/Midwife with valid Nigeria recognized license.
ii.Must be willing to reside in the PHC of choice.
iii. At least 2 years post training experience.

Duties/responsibilities:
a. Examining and monitoring pregnant women, new mothers and infants.
b. Assessing care requirements and writing care plans for patients.
c. Undertaking antenatal care in PHC, settlement and host community.
d. Carrying out screening tests, providing family planning services.
e. Providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women
and their partners.
f. Perform any other task that may be assigned in line with the objectives of NRCS.
In summary, he/she will be responsible and accountable for necessary professional support, care and advice during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period, to conduct delivery (births) and to
provide care for the newborn and
the infant.

2. Pharmacy Technicians.

Requirement:
Must be a pharmacy Technician with good knowledge of drugs and a valid Nigeria recognized license.
Not less than 2 years post training practices. A good knowledge of storekeeping is an advantage.
Must be willing to reside in the PHC of choice.

Duties/Responsibilities:
a. He/she will review and prepare medications by reviewing and
interpreting physician orders and possibly detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
b. Dispenses medications by
compounding, packaging, and labeling medications appropriately.
c. Control medications by monitoring drug
therapies; advising interventions.
d. Keep inventory of commodity
deployment to the store by preparing and delivering consumptions and needs reports.
e. Perform any other task that may be
assigned in line with the objectives of NRCS.

3. Laboratory Technicians.

Requirement:
a. Must be a laboratory Technician
with a valid Nigeria recognized license.
b. Not less than 3 years post training practices.
c. Must be willing
to reside in the PHC of choice.
d. Understanding and passion for humanitarian work is an added
advantage.

Duties/Responsibilities:
a. He/she will be responsible for
ensuring quality basic laboratory services at the PHC.
b. Support efforts of the physicians to improve quality healthcare by
conducting primary laboratory investigations.
c. Make patients’ referrals where
necessary to secondary facility for investigations beyond primary health care.
d. Perform any other task that may be assigned in line with the objectives
of NRCS.

4. Data Assistants.

Requirement:
a. Must have been trained on ICT
(Computer) with good knowledge of Microsoft packages including
excel, word and power-point.
b. Must be conversant with email
communication and operation.
c. Not less than 1 year post training
practices. Experience in
humanitarian health
programmes is an added advantage.
d. Must be willing to reside in PHC of
choice.

Duties/Responsibilities:
a.He/she will be responsible for collecting, entry, organizing, storing and retrieving records used in diagnosis and treatment.
b. Promote and support the effective use of data information, knowledge and
technology within the facility to support and improve health and the delivery of patient care.
c. Perform any other task that may be assigned in line with the objectives
of NRCS.

In summary, he/she collect and analyze patients’ data, ensure accuracy and privacy of patient records while managing and
maintaining databases as well as generating and analyzing reports.
