The presentation was made in an event organised by the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria(RATTAWU), Cross River State Council held at Franphinas Hotel, Calabar on Friday, March 26, 2021.
Speaking during the occasion, the State Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Ekpo Amaku acknowledged the selfless services of Sen. Onor in the following words:
“We recognize and celebrate men, women and organisations who have over the years rendered sacrificial services for the good of humanity, the nation and our state. Your works speak for you. As we crown your efforts today, it is our sincere wish to complement your steps by towing your lines of action and venturing into other areas.”
Responding on behalf of the Distinguished Senator, the Director General of the Caterpillar Movement, Chief (Hon.) Joe Obi Bisong described RATTAWU as a union for mankind as he said: “Your organisation is founded on knowledge, integrity, hospitality and entertainment. This means that it is key in all sectors of development. When the television informs us of wrong things it impacts on the children negatively. When you run programmes that are not beneficial to the society, the society is negatively affected. So, your union as a matter of fact is a union for mankind. Your activities are wholesome and we are very grateful to identify with you.”
Speaking further, Sen. Onor thanked the organization for finding him worthy of the recognition. “Thank you for finding us worthy to get an award from you. We would continue to partner with your union as a matter of fact. The days ahead speaks volume and we pray the speaking in volumes should be in the right direction. We will continue to support your union so that you can continue to serve society. Thank you.”
High point of the occasion was the presentation of a lecture titled: “Charismatic Leadership: A Driving Force For Our Progressive Society” by Prof. Walter Mboto, Professor of Industrial Sociology as the programme attracted dignitaries from various walks of life.
