The ongoing construction of the Ibiaragidi–Anyikang–Utukwe–Ububa Road in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State has reached another significant milestone with the commencement of stone base work on sections of the road, signalling steady progress towards the completion of the project.
The road construction project, facilitated by the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, is expected to significantly ease transportation challenges, improve connectivity among the benefiting communities and enhance access to markets and other essential services.
Upon completion, the road will also serve as a major boost to economic activities in the predominantly agrarian communities of Bekwarra, particularly by providing farmers with easier access to markets, facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce and helping to minimise post-harvest losses. The improved road network is equally expected to create new opportunities for trade, commerce and socioeconomic development across the benefiting communities.
Speaking on the progress of the project, Senator Jarigbe commended the engineers and construction team for the quality of work delivered so far. He urged them to sustain the current pace while maintaining the required standards to ensure that the road is constructed to withstand the test of time.
The lawmaker further reassured residents of the benefiting communities that the project remains a priority and expressed confidence that the construction work would be completed within the expected timeframe. He emphasised his commitment to delivering projects that directly address the needs of his constituents and improve their living conditions.
Meanwhile, members of the benefiting communities have expressed appreciation to Senator Jarigbe for facilitating the project, describing the ongoing construction as a welcome development that will positively impact their daily lives and economic activities. They also acknowledged his commitment to infrastructural development across Cross River North and pledged their continued support for the Senator and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
